GTCHS senior, Julia Petersen, has been selected as a PSAT/NMSQT National Hispanic Scholar. Julia scored in the top 2.5% of Hispanic and Latino test takers in our region on the PSAT/NMSQT administered last October (2014). "The College Board's National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP) identifies academically outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students. Each year the NHRP honors about 5,000 of the highest scoring students from over 250,000 Hispanic/Latino juniors who take the PSAT/NMSQT." The South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics is no accepting online applications for the Class of 2018. GSSM will host a Smart Talk session on September 15th for interested 9th & 10th grade students and parents. Please click on the flyers below for more information.
The STEM Center at Roper Mountain Science Center needs volunteers to help out with Second Saturdays. Roper Mountain Science Center is also looking for high school volunteers to assist weekly with the Explorers After School Program. Volunteers for the after school program are needed on each Friday throughout the school year from 3:30 - 5:30 pm. The Explorer program enrolls students 3rd - 5th grades.
